Polyketting started in 1956 by trading products like chains and sprockets.
Over the decades, we evolved from delivering mechanical components to realizing complete conveying systems for the food industry and ultimately to the smart, modular and functional approach that defines Clever Conveying today.
Our history is one of connecting, improving and simplifying the movements within production processes.

The Beginning – From Motorcycle Parts to Industrial Components (1956–1975)

Polyketting was founded in 1956 in The Hague, trading chains and sprockets for motorcycles. Over time, the portfolio expanded with transport chains, rollers and related industrial components.
In the early 1970s, we took a major step forward: the production of complete conveyor systems, primarily for the dairy industry.

This marked the shift from component supplier to system builder and resulted in the need for more space to build and in the move of the company towards Zelhem, in the east of the Netherlands.

Growth in Food & Dairy – Technical Expansion ('80s–90s)

Throughout the 1980s, Polyketting grew steadily within the food and dairy sectors.
Our systems became more robust, hygienic and application-driven, supporting increasingly complex production lines.
In the 1990s, we introduced our first horizontal First-In-First-Out accumulation table, an innovation that laid the foundation for today’s functional accumulation and flow-control solutions.

Professionalisation – Production, Engineering & Software (2000s–2010s)

In the 2000s, Polyketting established its own production facility and expanded into software engineering, gaining full control over design, construction and system functionality.
In the early 2010s, after a restructuring and takeover, we sharpened our focus on accumulation, product handling and functional conveying — building the expertise that would become the core of our Clever Conveying approach.

Today – Part of the XANO Group (2018–Now)

Since 2018, Polyketting has been part of the XANO Group, Business Unit Industrial Solutions.
This gives us the scale, stability and technological strength of an international group, while keeping our hands-on Zelhem identity intact.
Today, we deliver smart, modular systems that connect products, machines and people into one controlled flow, powered by the experience of more than six decades.
